A church here in Hickory sells pumpkins every year as a fundraiser for their youth. We were told that the sale covers all the funds the youth needs for the whole year! Today was BJ's day off and we decided to go over a pick out a few pumpkins and take some pictures. Eli sure had fun! He loved loading and unloading the wagon with pumpkins and pulling the wagon around. He picked out a small one and has already managed to break the stem off of it though!

18 Month Check-Up
Eli went to his 18 month well visit yesterday. He was considerably better behaved this time! He didn't refuse to sit on the scale and he let Dr. Harold listen to his heart for a long time. He was also great about her peeking in his ears and checking his eyes. He only screamed when he got the one shot and his finger poked. At his last visit he hardly cried at all when he got his shot. He'll get his flu shot next month and one more shot at 24 months and that's it (besides flu shots) until kindergarten!
He weighs 23 pounds and is 33 inches long. I'm not too thrilled about those measurments...because he weighed in at 23 pounds at his 15 month visit and apparently has only grown an inch taller. The doctor said she wasn't concerned though because the weight can level off at this age. She said they are seeing more and more kids at his age that are overweight these days. He is a very active little boy and sometimes he eats a lot and other times like a bird. The other night for instance all he would eat off his plate at dinner was the corn!
When I look at pictures of him during his first year I can't believe how chunky and plump he was! He was always in the 90th percentile and I think he even skipped wearing 3-6 month sized clothing all together. I guess I just have to trust the doctor on this one and keep offering him healthy foods as much as possible and maybe a few french fries here and there (he loves them)!
I went through his clothes the other day and took out all the 12 months and most of the summer clothes he has grown out of. It is 55 degrees here right now and he is wearing an 18 month old outfit...and the pants look a little like high waters...I guess it's time to go shopping and get this boy some new clothes for the winter!

Toddler Time!

On Tuesday mornings we go to Toddler Time at the library in downtown Hickory. They sing some songs, read a story and then get out lots of toys to play with. Eli is loving the Itsy Bitsy Spider right now. He tries to keep up with the hand motions...it's funny. I noticed last week that a lot of other moms were taking pictures of their kids so I figured I would join in on the fun this week. For some reason I didn't manage to get one of him smiling, but he loves Toddler Time and he really does smile! He doesn't seem to be too shy there either these days. Must take after his Daddy. : )

Where has September Gone?
We finally had to break out the long sleeves and sweatpants! The temperature has been in the 60's and we had quite a few dreary days here.
Friday nights are all about high school football here in little ol' Hickory. I made a pot of chili and we had some friends over for dinner then went to the big game between Hickory High and St. Stephen's. Saint won.
BJ had to cancel one of his youth events because of the gas shortage here. The event required a lot of driving and some of his volunteers had to back out b/c they just didn't have any gas! I found some this morning before church and by this afternoon when I passed the same station they were all out! The running joke here is that we're just going to put a yellow bag on Eli's head for him to go as a gas pump for Halloween!
This afternoon I took Eli to his buddy Noah's first birthday party. He had a blast and Noah was so sweet to share all his new toys with Eli.
We're getting ready for G.G.'s visit in October! I also have a video of Eli I hope to post as soon as I can figure out how...
That's about it for now.

Eli "Rocks Out" in his new Chair!
This morning BJ went and picked up a gift for Eli from his G.G. and Papa. His very own rocking chair! He loves it very much! Thank you G.G. and Papa!
He had a rough night last night. He seems to have a touch of the illness that I just got over. He woke up in the middle of the night running a temperature and he also has a molar on his lower left side that is bulging through. He keeps chewing on his hand on that side. Poor guy. On top of all that he also has his first case of major diaper rash!
He didn't run a temp. at all today though and seems to be doing better. I will be glad when all his teeth come in!
