Feeling O L D

Sorry if this picture scares anyone!
BJ got me this unicorn cake on sale at DQ! Tasted pretty good
after scrapping off that blue icing!

Well, I'm 27 now. BJ did a good job helping me feel special this weekend though...so that helped to ease the pain of getting older a little...
Last night we left Eli with a sitter and went out to eat at Applebee's. I sure miss getting my free dinner at the Real Seafood Company in Ann Arbor! The bee's was good though. After what seemed like a long dinner we went and browsed books at Barnes and Noble...one of my most favorite past times! Then we went to Starbucks for some late night coffee. It was a sweet night with sweet company!
On Friday, my actual birthday BJ and Eli served me breakfast in bed! Then we went to the mall to get my hair chopped off! It should be easier to manage now. For dinner we had one of my favorites, Cuban pork con arroz y frijoles negros. Had to have something Miami style! Brandon and Joy came over for dinner and cake and showed us some pictures from their trip to Europe this summer.
I feel so blessed to have been given 27 sweet years!

"Guns! Babies! and Jesus! Hot d%^!"

Wow! I am suddenly really excited about the election since hearing about Sarah Palin becoming the nominee for vice presidency! I had just about thrown in the towel with McCain. He just wasn't doing much for me. I'm thinking that a mother of 5 will do an awesome job in the white house! And how impressive and touching that she knew her last child was going to be born with downs and continued with the pregnancy...like Hilary would ever do that! And I'm sure she doesn't have an annoying laugh like Hilary's either!

She's a mom, beauty queen, moose hunter, hockey player, Jesus lover, outdoor's woman, pro-lifer, and she's run a city and a state...a whole heck of a lot more than Obama has done I'm sure!

I've got to get me a McCain/Palin bumper sticker!

It's been a lazy Monday. BJ is back from his "Sons of the Father" retreat and he said it went great. It's been raining here...I guess this is what we're getting from Fay. So we've just been chill-laxing and playing with Eli. Here are the pics from the Back to School party. It was a lot of fun! Close to 40 high school kids came out! What I didn't get a picture of was the big screen they put up out in the greenfield so we could enjoy a movie after the sun went down!

Our friends Jason, Katie and 11 month old Noah came over for dinner on Saturday.  Eli loved playing with Noah and was actually pretty sweet about sharing his toys.

                                                      Noah LOVED the mower!
Eli setting a bad example for Noah!
                                                                            Buds!

                                                   Sitting sweet with Katie.

Science Center Fun

Today my friend Rebecca and I took Eli to the Catawba Science Center here in Hickory. As a former teacher I was pretty impressed with what little old Hickory had to offer! The Aquarium was the coolest. Eli loved it and half of it was "hands on." We could have pet Nurse Sharks and Sting Rays but we were all kind of afraid to...Eli splashed his hands in the water and got their attention though. He squealed and giggled at all the fish and he did manage to pet a swimming turtle that seemed to be just as amused at Eli. I was so disappointed that I didn't bring the camera, but there is always next time.

I think we'll be going to "Free Fridays" there more often. A fun time was had by all!
