Headed to Florida!

On Friday my folks are driving up and they are kidnapping me and Eli and taking us back to their house for a couple of weeks! 2 weeks sounds like a long time, but I know it will fly by quickly! I sure wish BJ were coming along too, but he needs to stick around here and get some work done and with us away I have a feeling he'll be getting a lot of stuff in order for the rest of the year and for his summer youth trips. Plus he needs to save up his time off for when the baby comes in August.

My parents are super excited to have us come since it has now been over a year since we've been there. They have been busy baby-proofing and my dad apparently stocked the pantry with animal crackers and other treats that Eli likes. Please keep them in your prayers for their journey here and our journey to and from Florida. It is an 8 1/2 hour drive but will probably take longer since there will be lots of stops for me and Eli to get out and stretch. And since my parents don't have internet access it will be a couple weeks before I'm back in blog land. Take care!  : )

Scared of the Telletubbies

So the other day I got out a tape that we haven't watched in awhile. It's a tape that my mom made of all different kids shows. They have dish network and a DVR and we don't even have cable so it was very thoughtful of her to think of Eli. The other morning I put the tape on and got Eli a popsicle hoping that it would buy me 5 minutes of peace so that I could go get a shower. I don't even remember what show was on when I stuck the tape in. Not even a minute into my shower I heard the pattering of his little feet running down the hallway and he pulled open the shower curtain and stuck his little hands up toward me. His hands were trembling! I kept asking him what was wrong and was a little alarmed! By now he was trying to climb into the shower with me. Then I thought, I bet those darn Telletubbies are on! I had forgotten they were on that tape and suddenly remembered how afraid he had been of them before. SO I had to turn off the water and wrap up in a towel and sure enough when I went out into the living room they were on! He had even thrown his popsicle onto the floor! So I fast-forwarded the Telletubbies and washed off his popsicle and he did manage to be good so I could finish my shower.

Well, a couple days later I put the tape on and got myself some iced tea and decided to sit with Eli on the couch and clip some coupons while he watched his kid shows. There are a couple of Christian shows that he especially loves. One is called Tiny Tots for Jesus and he loves to sing along with the songs and pray along with the kids on the show. Well the show was ending and they started singing their Goodbye song. As soon as this happened, Eli jumped off the couch and began running back and forth from the living room into the dining room with a look of sheer panic on his face. Normally he waves bye bye at this point. Then he was on the couch again but had pulled the blanket over himself. I thought, I bet those darn Telletubbies are coming on! And I was right! He kept the blanket over his head but would peak out every few seconds. The camera was on the mantle so I took a few pictures of this. I didn't turn it off this time. I sang along and tried to get him to understand that they weren't going to hurt him and so he very cautiously watched the show!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We love this guy! We have one of his Dvds and watch it when we need a good laugh!
We've had a nice quiet day at home. But we were all out until 2 am this morning! BJ had a youth ski trip last night. He was sweet enough to wake up and make me breakfast thismorning though and he gave me a little box of dark chocolates that he drove an hour to get from Kilwin's fudge shoppe in Blowing Rock. Kilwin's always reminds us of the part of our honeymoon we spent on Mackinaw Island. We all took a nice long nap and then BJ took Eli outside to play while I made dinner.

Eli and daddy picked me some daffodils. I can't believe they are blooming so early!

He loves to lick the beaters when I make mashed potatoes.

I guess he wasn't ready to get out of the tub tonight. I took him out and put the towel around him and while I was reaching for another towel he climbed back in! I had to call daddy in to take a picture b/c I thought it was kind of cute! By the way, he pooped in the bathtub the other night. He had never done that before! BJ has a funny story about how he pooped in the tub when he was little too! He was on the phone with Uncle Andy tonight and told him about Eli pooping in the tub. Uncle Andy said, "The turd doesn't fall far from the tree!"

A Baby is on the Way

Sweet Little Baby

Hello, sweet little baby growing inside

I guess we're both along for the ride.

I'm excited...I'm nervous...I'm filled with joy!

I can't help but wonder if you're a girl or a boy.

It's too soon to tell, which is just as well

It doesn't matter to me whatever you'll be.

Still, I catch myself... wishing I knew

what will you wear, pink or blue?

I am ready for you, either way

I find myself dreaming what we will play.

Tea parties for a girl, Sailboats for a boy

as soon as I know, I'll buy you a toy.

I can't wait to tell, everyone I know

the wonderful news... should I wait 'til I show?

Soon you'll see how much I care

there's so much to do, so much to share

But first I must thank God above

for sending you, for me...to love!

It is with much joy that we share that our family will be welcoming a precious new baby in August! On Tuesday I will be 14 weeks along and today we saw our baby via ultrasound. Everything seems to be going along well. The baby's heart rate was 150 and we had fun watching the little one squirm around. We go back on March 16th for another ultrasound and we will be finding out whether baby is a boy or girl. We appreciate everyone's prayers for a safe and healthy pregnancy! Due date is August 19! Here are some ultrasound pictures from today. They aren't the best, but I figured I'd go ahead and share them. There is also one of the proud big brother to-be! Thank you God for this wonderful new gift!

If you look closely on the LEFT (oops had to edit that cause I am already having preggy brain and had originally wrote, right) you can see how the baby had it's little legs crossed!

We used this shirt to share the news with the Gavrun family at Christmas. Shortly after we first arrived at Mom and Dad G.'s house we took Eli's jacket off and waited to see how long it would take them to notice what the shirt says. We were all sitting in the living room and it took them a few minutes, but finally Auntie Ashley noticed it! BJ and I knew she would be the first one to figure it out!

G.G. and Grandpa in Hawaii!

Ever since I've known mom and dad Gavrun they have talked about going to Hawaii! Well they finally did! They have been there for the past 2 weeks having the time of their lives! Mom said it's the most beautiful place she has ever seen! Here are a couple of the pictures they emailed us. Hopefully they don't mind me posting them, but I thought the first one was so cute!!!

Little Artist...Little Helper

Thank goodness for the art smock!

Daddy came home for lunch and had to join in on the fun!

Helping me with laundry!

Eli is becoming quite the helper around here. He especially likes to help me transfer clothes from the washer to the dryer. Then I let him throw in the fabric sheet, close the door, and press the button to start it. Next I'll teach him how to sort the clothes and load the washer so that hopefully by the time he goes off to college he'll be able to do his own laundery! ; )

A Hike at South Mountain Today

Father and son.

Check out the water in the upper left of the picture...a little preview of the falls.

If it were summer I would have been so tempted to go dip my feet in this pot hole!

Awwwwww!!!!

I found this today and thought it was both profound and precious!
What a great reminder for all of us moms and dads.
