Warning. This post is about poop.
However, it's #2 that is still proving to be a challenge. He has some issues, we'll just say, and doesn't "go" everyday. It's something we are talking with the pediatrician about. The boy wouldn't eat a prune to save his life.
He likes to go to bed when he feels a #2 coming on. I think it's kinda painful for the little guy.
Well. We were at Wal Mart last night with G.G. when all of a sudden he stood up in the cart and started crying about "the poo poo." G.G. was off looking at some jeans and there I was with the cart full of groceries and both our purses. I was also on the phone with BJ who was complaining to me about Toby needing a big booby or something. Eli was jumping up and down in place so I hung up on BJ and when G.G. got back to the cart we quickly darted off for the restrooms, but with a quick pat on his butt, I knew it was too late. I didn't have a pull-up or spare underware on me (dumb, I know) so I devised a plan on the way to the bathroom that I would just drop the contents of his underware into the toilet and the boy would just have to deal with the skid marks until we got home. So when we got in the stall, I pulled his pants down only to discover some small skid marks but no poo poo. I shook out his shorts and looked all around but the poop was nowhere to be found. I asked him if he needed to go and he said he didn't, so I thought maybe I had imagined the whole thing or something. So we left the restroom and got on the other side of the registers and that's when...
I spotted it.
There was something brown on the floor in front of the cash register lanes and people were avoiding it like the plague as they zoomed by with their buggies. Some were doing double takes and their eyes were big and I could tell they didn't know whether to laugh or wrinkle up their nose. And I couldn't help but pray that the brown thing wasn't what I thought is was.
But,
It was.
At first, I wanted to walk past it and not even give it a glance. But Eli started saying over and over, "That's my poo poo. That's my poo poo." Plus, I felt pretty guilty. What if someone stepped in that? What if some kid mistaked it for a swiss cake roll? And then some strange part of me was like, that is a part of my child laying in the middle of Wal Mart for all the world to see and I want to get it cleaned up as quickly as possible so his dignity is not compromised.
Weird, I know.
Thank GOD there was a Wal Mart worker helping a customer a few feet away. I wasn't sure how to explain and I didn't care that I interrupted the person he was helping. Thankfully it all came out without a studder: "I need a clean-up over here. I'm really, really sorry, but my son had an accident and if you'll just give me some paper towels and a bag I'll be happy to clean it right up for you."
He didn't bat an eyelash. He went right over and some gloves and paper towels appeared out of nowhere. Next thing I know he was putting the gloves on himself and told me "Don't worry about it ma'am. I'll take care of this you just go on and finish your shopping."
What a nice man.
So yeah. We'll keep working on the #2. But I am still not going back to pull-ups (or the Conover Wal Mart for that matter). He has come so far!
